Synopsis
Through Korean Cinema (Director : Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso)
A documentary by a new Italian director that reviews the history of Korean cinema chronologically, based on interviews with directors Im Kwon-taek, Park Kwang-su, Lee Myung-se, Lee Chang-dong, and Park Chan-wook. The directors talk about Korean society that they have lived in, the meaning of making films, and their difficulties and anecdotes along the way. Their major works are introduced through important scenes, giving the film significance in reviewing the history of Korean cinema.
Return to Manila: Filipino Cinema (Director : Hubert Niogret)
During the next ten years, in Paris and at various festivals, we will see remarkable films by Philippine directors (Ishmael Bernal, Mario O’Hara, Mike De Leon, Marilou Diaz Abaya, Pepe Gallaga…) and by a few “old-timers” as well, discovered thanks to the private collections of Lino Broka and Agustin Sotto (Gerardo de Leon, Manuel Conde, Lamberto Avellana, from the fifties, and Eddie Romero, who is still working in the 90’s).
