Born in 1977 in Tokyo. Won a special mention in the 1999 Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival's New Asian Currents section for his directorial debut Annyong-Kimchi. Subsequently made several challenging works such as The Virgin Wildsides (2007) and Annyong Yumika (2009). Won Best Picture in this film festival's Japanese Eyes section in 2009 for 74-minute one-cut film Live Tape.
