Bruno Dumont directed his first feature film at the age of thirty-eight, The Life of Jesus (1997), shot in Bailleul, where he was born in 1958. The film was selected for the Director's Fortnight, winning a Caméra d'Or Special Mention. His Humanity won the Grand Prix at Cannes in 1999 and Flandres in 2006.
