Born in Oita, 1960. After graduating from University of Kyoto, he worked as an assistant director at Shishi Productions. Zeze's commercial film directorial debut was Kagai Jugyo Boko (1989). Since then, he has directed commercial films such as Moon Child (2003) and Pandemic (2008). Heaven's Story (2010) was selected for 61st Berlinale and won International Film Critics Association Award and the NETPAC Award.Winner of 2011 Montreal World Film Festival's Innovation Award.
