Born in Hong Kong and started his career as a screenwriter. His debut was the romantic action blockbuster A Moment of Romance (1990). Since then, Chan has directed close to twenty films, many of which featured strong action, cementing his reputation as one of Hong Kong’s top contemporary action directors. Chan has collaborated with Jackie Chan in Who Am I (1998), New Police Story (2004), and Rob-b-hood (2006).
