Synopsis
Chencho is a thirteen-year-old boy who wants to cross the Mexico-US border to get to Chicago to be with his older brother. On the way, he meets an old man who offers him a ride in his mule-driven wagon. But the man dies shortly after, with the compass stuck in his hand. Chencho continues on his journey with the dead man sitting by his side. On the road, an array of characters―who have nowhere to go and no reason to stay―appear on the scene. One after another, they jump into the wagon heading north, guided by the hand of the dead man who, by the way, is now starting to rot.

Arturo Pons
Born in 1973 in León, México. Has a degree in communication studies from the Ibero-American University. In 2001 he moved to Barcelona to study at the Centre d'Estudis Cinematogràfics de Catalunya. Arturo has directed many short films, music video clips and visual compositions. He is the director, writer and editor of The Compass is Carried by the Dead Man which script was selected at Havana Film Festival in 2006.
