Introduction
Mohei, a printer in Kyoto, is falsely accused of adultery with Osan, his master's young wife. Kenji Mizoguchi adapted Monzaemon Chikamatsu’s tragic love story “Daikyoji Mukashigoyomi” with his superb sense of aesthetics to create this masterpiece.
