FOREWORD
The Tokyo International Film Festival (hereafter referred to as TIFF) regulations follow the Regulations for International Film Festival provided by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations(FIAPF).
ARTICLE 1: Eligibility
All films selected and invited for the Competition must meet the following conditions:
(1)Must be films completed after January 1st 2011.
(2) Should not have been screened at main competition section of competitive feature film festivals (non-specialised) accredited by FIAPF*1 prior to TIFF.
(3)Must have its East-Asian Premiere at TIFF. World and International Premieres are given priority.
Japanese films must have its World Premiere.
(4)Must be feature films (including animation) running over 60 minutes.
(5)Documentary films are not eligible.
(6)Both digital format (in high definition) and 35mm film print, with English subtitles, are eligible as screening material.
The application of these conditions belongs at the discretion of TIFF.

ARTICLE 2: Prizes
TIFF will award the following prizes in accordance with the decision of the International Competition Jury who is obliged to award the following prizes:
- Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix (for the producer and the director *2)
(cash prize of 50,000 USD)
- Special Jury Prize (for the producer and the director *2)
(cash prize of 20,000 USD)
-Award for Best Director
(cash prize of 5,000 USD)
-Award for Best Actress
(cash prize of 5,000 USD)
-Award for Best Actor
(cash prize of 5,000 USD)
-Award for Best Artistic Contribution (Photography, Sound, Art Direction, Music, Script etc.)
(cash prize of 5,000 USD)
*2 The cash prize is to be shared equally by the producer and the director.
ARTICLE 3: Invitation
TIFF will invite the director and the lead actor/actress of selected film.
ARTICLE 4: Entry for Pre-Selection
Entry Form must be submitted through Festival's website: http://www.tiff-jp.net.
(1) Those who are qualified according to the conditions of Article 1 hereinabove may apply to the Competition by submitting the references and materials requested in the Entry Form.
(2)All the materials should be sent to:

(3) All the materials must be shipped prepaid, insured and packed in proper containers and received by TIFF no later than July 15th, 2011. The materials submitted to the Festival will not be returned.
*Please note in advance, that in case your film includes images which are in contravention to the Japanese law, the DVD may not be accepted by the Japanese customs, in which case, the DVD will be returned back to the sender.
(4)The result of Pre-Selection will be notified via e-mail by mid September 2011.
ARTICLE 5: Materials for the Selected Films
Participants whose films have been selected are required to send the following materials to TIFF.
(1)Entry Sheet (provided by TIFF, for all necessary information regarding the selected film)
―TO BE FILLED-OUT AND RETURNED TO TIFF AS SOON AS POSSIBLE upon acceptance of the Invitation.
(2) Dialogue lists in original-language, English Subtitle List & Spotting List for Japanese subtitles
(3)Digital Photo Data (*350dpi, jpg format): main photo of the film, sub cuts of the film, and the director photo
(4) DVD screeners with English subtitle
(5)Trailer and Excerpts of the film in Betacam SP NTSC format (for TV publicity) and DVD or DVCAM(for TIFF website)
(6)Press Kit
(7)6 posters
(8)Promotional materials and 2 DVDs for the Business Centre and DVD Library.
Materials 1-4 listed above must reach the address on ARTICLE 4, 2), no later than September 5th, 2011.
The shipping fees for the above materials must be borne by participants.
ARTICLE 6: Screening Materials (35mm print/ digital format) and Subtitles for the Selected Films
35mm composite print in the original-language version with English subtitles, must reach the below address between September 12th-16th 2011.

Screening materials in digital format (in high definition) must reach the address on ARTICLE 4, 2), between September 12th-16th 2011.
All films will be screened in the original-language version with both English and Japanese subtitles, except for films in English version, which will be shown with Japanese subtitles only. Only Japanese subtitles shall be screened using electronic subtitling system paid by TIFF.
ARTICLE 7: Transportation and Insurance
(1) Shipping costs to Tokyo plus insurance fees while in transit should be borne by participants.TIFF will pay for the return transportation charges.
(2) TIFF will pay storage and insurance costs for selected films throughout the period which the cinematographic materials are in the Festival's custody.
(3) In case of print loss or damage, Festival liability will not exceed the cost of making a new print according to the current laboratory rates for a standard print.
(4) TIFF will return the print within two weeks after the Festival ends.
ARTICLE 8: Submission Agreement
Person responsible for the submission must agree with the below:
(1)Cannot withdraw their entry once they have signed the Agreement Form for the official selection.
(2)Shall give careful attention to a third party (ex. Japanese distributor) who might interfere with this agreement.
ARTICLE 9: Understanding & Acceptance
Participants in the Competition are deemed to have fully understood and accepted all the regulations and entry form. Matters not covered by the regulations and entry form and any questions arising thereof will be resolved by the TIFF Organizing Committee in accordance with the regulations of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations.
