Synopsis
Doğan, a pessimistic and neurotic architect, gets ill while camping with his friends near Istanbul. His doctor advises him to travel. Longing for his homeland, Doğan sets off on a short break to the town of his childhood that he has not seen for years, but not even the countryside has escaped the homogenizing web cast by the modern technological age and liberal mentality inimical to the earth. Doğan looks in vain for the days in which time seemed inexhaustible and peculiar to objects, and for the geography which used to be tranquility itself.

Muzaffer Özdemir
Muzaffer Özdemir was born in Gümüşhane in 1955. Graduated from the Department of Geological Engineering, ITU. He worked as a contractor at restorations of historical buildings. He acted in three Nuri Bilge Ceylan films: The Small Town (1997), Clouds of May (1999) and Distant (2002). His performance in Distant won him the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003.
