UNIJAPAN Wins Green Energy Partnership Award for TIFF Ecological Activities!

In recognition of UNIJAPAN’s ecological activities for the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), UNIJAPAN was awarded the Green Energy Partnership’s “Green Energy Partnership Award, Special Prize.” This prize is given to groups and individuals in the Green Energy Partnership who have made particularly notable efforts to use green energy. This year, seven groups, including UNIJAPAN, received the award. An award ceremony was held at Yurakucho Asahi Hall on July 27.

UNIJAPAN received the award because the energy for last year’s TIFF screenings, events and seminars were offset by a Green Energy Certificate and Green Power Certificates. This was the first time in Japan that a Green Energy Certificate had been issued.

At the ceremony, the Secretary General of TIFF, Nobushige Toshima, said, “TIFF began considering environmental issues from the 21st TIFF, so this will be TIFF’s 4th year as an ecological film festival. We will continue to send out an ecological message from Tokyo.”

UNIJAPAN will make every effort to ensure that TIFF is an environmentally aware and ecological film festival.

The 24th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will be held from October 22 to 30, 2011, at Roppongi Hills and other venues in Tokyo.
